in Awareness

Wow, there is some powerful stuff floating around out there.

Melody is at 5MFSN today talking about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Day, which is September 9th. She has provided several links to some great information about this COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE problem which affects us all.

In other news:

For her first Try This Tuesday, Jaimie has shared about her own challenges with sensory processing and offers some great ideas to help our children and our students deal with them.

And on a lighter note:

  • Trish,

Thanks so much for the comment, it is nice to know when/if someone reads what I am writing :)

I have never really imagined myself doing anything other than working in sped (well, barring the times I fantasized being a doctor on ER or a veterinarian... ;) ) because I just couldn't think of anything else that not only did I enjoy, but actually down to the bone really understood.

I know that my learning disabilities/other issues have at some points (many of them...) been issues during college, but I think given my own experiences with struggling in school I will be able to better understand where my students are coming from.

thanks for the positive feedback, I really do appreciate it! (oh and it's cool to be linked to in someone's post...I'm usually the one linking to other blogs!)

    Jaimie
