It was so helpful this last month to break all the Christmas to do items down by week, so I decided to keep going with that system for the coming year. I am an obsessive list maker and would constantly be going through my huge to do list to figure out what to do next (or try to avoid the stuff I didn’t want to do!). And then I would have to rewrite it when it got too messy or confusing.
Putting things in a weekly time frame helps me focus on what is most important and also not worry about the things that aren’t critical yet. I found this cute weekly planner and ordered one for both me and my friend who came up with the idea. It’s called the Buttoned Up Weekly Agenda:

And here’s what it looks like opened up:

It has a bunch of pages in the back for notes and also some shopping/errand lists that you can tear out. The best part is the advice section in the middle–I think the authors read my mind when they wrote this:
The secret to getting Buttoned Up isn’t obsessing about what you need to do, but rather getting clear on what you don’t need to do.
- You don’t need to be perfect.
- You don’t need to do everything on your list.
- And you don’t need to do everything yourself.
My To Do List
Put away the extra items from the living room and dining area (wrapping paper, boxes from gifts, stocking stuffers, etc).Organize stamp area.
Make thank you notes for Christmas and birthday.
Make sure Michael does his holiday homework packet
Find out if my MIL had started a Christmas stocking for Michael that I can take to finish for her. Well, we asked about it anyway. She doesn’t remember and it may be hard to find. I’ll have to take a look, with her permission, the next time I am down there.
Review January budget with Bob.
I think this method will help me focus on what’s most important and get those things done at the right time. At least, that’s the plan!
To-Do Tuesday was started by Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting for the purpose of attacking our to-do lists each week, blogging about our lists and what we’ve got going on, and sharing it with each other to help keep each other accountable.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! Happy New Year to you too.
Love the sayings. It kinda makes you relax the instant you read it!
Yeah, it takes the pressure off! I think it's interesting that we need permission to not expect perfection out of ourselves.
I'm running another test to see if the reply to this comment will go to the email address I am using. I left the default subscribe choice on.
And here's my reply – it should post on the blog and also email to the address I used.
Okay, now I'm doing another one but not subscribing to comments. In both cases, I am commenting as a guest.
And here's the reply to my second comment from the Verizon email.
I didn't get the last two replies in my email, so I'm thinking maybe that only works if you actually register with Disqus. I have posted in a couple of online forums and will see what I can find out. Just testing my theory here!
Please, please, please, please work!
