To-Do Tuesday, Christmas Countdown

in Getting Organized

For anyone who may not have seen this before, To-Do Tuesday was started by Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting for the purpose of attacking our to-do lists each week, blogging about our lists and what we’ve got going on, and sharing it with each other to help keep each other accountable.

A friend and I sat down this evening and worked out our schedules for getting everything done for Christmas. We decided we would check in with each other periodically to see how we’re doing – what’s getting done and when we’re goofing off or getting overwhelmed.

Although it still feels like there’s a lot to do, I am more confident now that it will get done and I won’t make myself crazy over it. And posting it here just makes me even more accountable!

December 1-5

Christmas cards/letters/CDs

  • Incorporate Bob’s changes into letter and CD insert.
  • Print letters and inserts.
  • Buy CD mailers.
  • Address envelopes and mail them. — This is about halfway done, and the rest are ones that Bob needs to write/sign.
Take care of any gifts that need to be ordered online, including photos that need to be printed.

Put up Christmas decorations.

  • Find spots for items displaced by tree.
  • Get ornaments for tree down from attic & put on.
  • Use other decorations as there is room available for them.
Attend Restoration Ministry Christmas Party on Friday night. (This isn’t going to happen as we just have too much to do to get ready for this weekend. Maybe next year!)

Make trip to Bob’s parents house Saturday/Sunday to help with their Christmas cards and whatever else they need.

December 6-12

Make handmade items (purposefully left vague in case future gift recipients may be reading this!!).

Finish any shopping that is left.

Make homemade treats with L on Saturday and then teach in the Friendship Station.

Attend Autism Society Christmas party on Sunday.

December 13-19

Mail boxes to my family.

Send gifts in to school for Michael’s team.

Bake items to take into work and give to neighbors/friends.

Make whatever I am taking to family celebration.

Wrap gifts for Bob’s family.

Celebrate with Bob’s family on Saturday/Sunday.

December 20-26

Finish any shopping/wrapping for our gifts.

Write letter from Santa.

Plan menu for holiday/vacation week and do grocery shopping.

Organize some sort of party or other entertaining of friends for after Christmas.

Somewhere in there we do want to spend an evening at Hersheypark for Christmas Candylane, but other than that, the schedule up until Christmas Day is pretty much set.

I won’t bore you with my regular list since it hasn’t really changed from last week. But I will tell you that I’ve decided next year I really am going to start the holiday preparations a bit sooner so I don’t have this much left on December 1st!
