Ultimate Blog Party 2009

I had such a great time last night partying with the Ultimate Blog Party 2009! We totally crashed the 5 Minutes for Mom site trying to link up our posts (sorry ladies), but Twitter came to the rescue and we were able to start the party there until the Mr. Linky was available.

Or I should say Mr. Linkies, because they not only have separate sections for Entrepreneurs and for Dads, they also have linkups for your Twitter profile and your Facebook profile. Pretty cool!

I stayed up way too late, but I was a good girl this morning and did my chores before turning on the computer. Now I’m off to visit blogs and do some Twittering! (Oh, the hashtag is #ubp09 if you want to get in on the Twitter conversation.)

My party post is here, and you can find tons more at 5 Minutes for Mom.

Hope everybody is ready for Thanksgiving! We are blessed with a family that is large enough not to be able to celebrate at our house (how’s that for being thankful for a small home!), so we will be traveling to State College tomorrow for our holiday.

Today while the TSS is here, I am going to get our Christmas decorations down from the attic so they are ready to go this weekend. I can’t really do it while I am alone with Michael because I can’t trust him not to follow me up the ladder into the attic, so this should work out well.

Here’s a few fun links for your Wednesday morning – hope you enjoy!

HE’S A POET!

Donna at Amazed By His Grace has shared her son Jonathan’s poem that was published in the first issue of GLIMPSE, a new publication from ICDL. His poem, I Love Butterflies, is very good (see page 12), and I also really liked Please Listen To My Heart by Roy Bedward on page 16.

MAKE IT FROM SCRATCH

So, I mentioned the other day that I was Twittering again. Well, I saw a Tweet from @feelslikehome asking for posts on homemade items to feature in a carnival she was hosting. I sent over my Macaroni and Cheese recipe, and she included it!

Check out all the great recipes, craft ideas, and other homemade tips in the Make It From Scratch Carnival #91. What’s really funny about this whole internet/blogging thing is she lives in my town but I don’t know her. :)

MORE TWITTER FUN

Also on the Twitter front, Bonnie at Autism Family Adventures is planning Autism Twitter Day to promote positive autism awareness. Visit her to find out more details.

TwitterCounter for @wheresthebox

Isn’t this the neatest button? I can’t remember where I first saw it, but I got it from twittercounter.com. I have gone on and off Twitter over the last few months, but I am starting to get back into the socializing mode again now. :)

If you are on Twitter, please feel free to leave your username/link in the comments, and you can follow me if you’d like – my user name is wheresthebox.

Have you joined Plurk yet? Like Twitter, only different, Plurk offers an easy way to see who is responding to each plurk and has interesting features like qualifiers, emoticons and karma.

With both of these, I find I am a casual user and can tend to lurk more than participate, but I will say that I have found a couple of new blogs and some cool websites just from reading plurk conversations, which was an unexpected benefit to me!

One of the things I found through a response to a plurk from user DaisyOlsen is Plurktionary, which is an unofficial plurk dictionary and help page. There is a video on the front page which is a really clear explanation of how it works, and she has a pretty insightful review of Plurk on her blog. From clicking around to some of the other pages on the site, I found a link to a FriendFeed Greasemonkey script for Plurk, which is awesome! This blog, The Inquisitor, also has scripts to place a tab for several other services inside FriendFeed.

If you are on any of these networks, look me up and follow me/subscribe to me/add me as a friend!
