Check it out; this is a new site devoted to stealing a different meme each Sunday. This one was stolen from PT-LawMom.
Sunday Stealing: “The Finish This Sentence” Meme
1. My uncle once got a Rolex watch for his birthday. I know, not very exciting, but it was the first thing I thought of since my mom’s oldest sister’s husband shares my birthday, which is December 25th. My aunt got him a Rolex for his 50th birthday, and I have no remembrance of what I got that year!
2. Never in my life have I worn a pink dress. Well, at least not that I can remember. I had a pink sweater once that was a gift from a boyfriend who obviously didn’t know me very well and wore it twice. I threw it away as soon as we broke up.
3. When I was five my parents started taking us to church. From then until I was twelve, we went every Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night. After they stopped attending, they would still take me or I would find someone to get a ride from so I could go.
4. High school was not too bad. I went from a private school in 8th grade that had a total of 150 students in K-12 to the public high school that had over 2000 students in 9-12 grades. Talk about culture shock, but I got through it without too many scars.
5. I will never forget to put my contacts in, mainly because my glasses are several years old and lean sideways and drive me crazy.
6. Once I met Twila Paris, who is my favorite singer. I had no idea what to say to her, so the next time we saw her, my husband stood in line to have her sign a CD while I stood near the front of the line and just watched her talk to people. I liked that a lot better than actually talking with her myself – it’s too much pressure to know the right thing to say.
7. There’s this boy I know who loves being a super hero and a race car driver and a chef and a builder, all before breakfast.
8. Once, at a bar, I had a drink. Again, not exciting, but I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to a bar. Just not my scene, so to speak.
9. By noon, I’m awake. (Just kidding, my son wakes me up anywhere from 6:30 am on. But we don’t have to leave the house now until 12:30 pm, so the pressure to get up and get ready is off.)
10. Last night I went to church and then stayed up late reading our pastor’s book about his healing from leukemia (Hope Beyond Reason by David Hess). He has been working on it for about a year and a half, so it is very exciting to see it published and be able to share his story even farther afield.
11. If only I had a maid, I could spend even more time blogging instead of doing those pesky chores.
12. Next time I go to church my son will go into the kindergarten class for the first time. We visited the classroom last night after service, and he got to meet one of his teachers and look around the room.
13. What worries me most is that I will never stop worrying.
14. When I turn my head left I see my kitchen counter with the phone and calendar and some other stuff. I would like to clear it out and move the toy bin that is underneath so I can make it the new workspace for my laptop, but first I have to organize the closet in the living room to have storage space for the toys.
15. When I turn my head right I see the dining room wall and the extra dining room chair where I have my little file box and papers that I need to deal with (which will eventually be in the corner of my new workspace)!
16. You know I’m lying when I blush. Although I blush when I am embarrassed or think something is really funny, too, so it’s kind of hard to tell.
17. What I miss most about the Eighties is hair scrunchies. (Oh wait, I still wear those!) I guess it must be folding the hem of my jeans and rolling them up so they will be super tight around my ankles – not sure who decided that would be attractive!
18. If I were a character in Shakespeare I’d be Lady Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing. Or at least I would like to be.
19. By this time next year I will be less than six months away from turning 40. Although it doesn’t really bother me, it does seem a bit unbelievable.
20. A better name for me would be Alexandra, or at least that’s the name I always wanted when I was a teenager. I actually like my full name, Patricia, but don’t use it because then people tend to call me Pat or Patty, which I detest (it’s not a bad name, I just don’t like it for me).
21. I have a hard time understanding why people who have comment moderation set on their blog feel the need to make me type in word verification letters. Seriously, if you’re going to look at every comment anyway, why make me have to squint and figure out a string of crushed together letters. (Please don’t be offended, I still love you and will keep leaving comments anyway; it just had to be said.)
22. If I ever go back to school, I’ll have some clue what I am doing, unlike the first time around!
23. You know I like you if I say, “Hey, I like you!”
24. If I ever won an award, the first person I would thank would be my husband for encouraging me to take a risk and be myself.
25. Take my advice, never steal anything.
