Success Sunday: What Stops You?

“Other people and things can stop you temporarily. You’re the only one who can do it permanently.”
–Zig Ziglar

Most of the times when I am angry or frustrated, I find that it is because I have let this happen. When I take back control of how I am reacting and responding to the situation, those feelings of being trapped and helpless recede, even if the difficulties are still there.

Is there anything or anyone that you are letting stop you from moving forward right now?

It is sad that this is so true.
I too find that the feelings of being trapped and helpless can only be broken by removing self made obstacles, be it trying to please one too many people, or just losing yourself to minute details and not seeing, therefore adapting to the big picture.

I get bogged down in feeling like a martyr and feeling like my situation is so tough, which it’s not. Like Artemis said, I get so mired in the minutiae that I can’t see the bigger picture. In that I miss the joy and I miss what God is doing in my life.

Boy, did I need this reminder. We are, indeed, our own worst enemy.

I ironically these days I keep finding myself in the big picture. I guess there always must be a balance though. Because it gets frustrating when you realize that there are important steps along the way to the big picture and that big picture doesn’t happen when I envisioned it.

One of the things that elizabeth made me think of is that I think the world gets bogged down in thinking that I’m a martyr and that my life is tough. And I concur that it’s not. It is just different. The world always seems to know what I need when they have no clue.

That is a very good question that we should ask ourselves often. I think I am sometimes my own worst enemy. Controlling my negative thoughts is my biggest challenge. I am sure they keep me back.
