One of the local soccer associations has a program for kids with special needs, and Michael is old enough this year to join in. Sunday was the first of six sessions, and he got to practice a bunch of different drills with his group. Each player has a buddy, who are mostly teenage soccer players. Michael’s buddy this week was Charlie.
It seems like a great program, and the first day went very well until the end, when each kid gets to shoot a goal against one of their parents. As soon as Michael realized this was coming, he became very upset and was yelling mean things and wanting to go home. Not sure how he will handle it when they actually play a game, but winning & losing is definitely a BIG issue for him right now. (Hmmm, maybe I need to write another social story.)
