What's On Your Nightstand

There are so many books that I have read lately and wanted to write about, but time has just not been on my side. So I am taking advantage of this opportunity from 5 Minutes for Books to go through what’s been on my “share list” for the past few weeks. At the top of the list:

The Shack by William P. Young – a novel about a man’s encounter with God and the redemptive, healing process he goes through in the course of a weekend spent in the Lord’s presence. I was very moved by this story but have been wary of sharing any specifics because I think this is a book people should experience for themselves.

Some other books that you might enjoy:

The Shack is on my list, and from what I’ve heard–yes, it does need to be experienced, so I’m looking forward to it, and appreciate your vague description.

The pile of books on my nightstand is forever growing! I blame it on Amazon!

I love Jasper Fforde; After I read your post I literally jumped up, went to the library and rented Lost in a Good Book, just cause…

I’m 2/3 through the Shack, and I’m really enjoying it. It takes me a long time to read a book, because once I put it down, I don’t pick it up again for awhile! I’m also reading A Glimpse of Jesus by Brennan Manning and Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins.

I read parts of Christ the Lord at Borders whenever it was new, and it was quite interesting. But I’m not one to buy books retail, so I didn’t buy it then. I’ll have to get it from the library sometime.

I recently read Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt and was very impressed. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised!

Recent reads here:
The Faith Club, by Idliby, Oliver, and Warner
Mirror Dance, by Lois MacMaster Bujold

Next up:
Angle of Repose, by Wallace Stegner

P.S. Thanks for your comment over at Elvis Sightings — nice to meet you too!

I have heard so much about The Shack. Either it is a must read or don’t waste your time. I just may have to check it out!
