Okay Livin’ Life, I’ll play along this time, even though there are some really hard questions here.
What Ifs:
What if I could meet someone in the art world to chat with? I am not very good at chatting with people, especially famous ones, so this would be very nerve-racking for me. If my husband could be there to provide the witty banter and interesting questions, I would enjoy meeting Roz Chast and Grant Wood.
What if I could have one wish granted for the benefit of all mankind? NO MORE AUTISM!!! (I know this is more of a personal wish, but it would definitely benefit everyone. Seriously, what are we doing to ourselves with the way we live – in addition to all the issues we have with pollution and chemicals and the other hazards of an industrial society, they have found 56 different medications in the water in the city of Philadelphia, and yet we wonder why autism, ADHD, allergies, asthma and all these other auto-immune disorders are on the rise.)
What if I could travel anywhere in the world? I am picturing a quiet village in some romantic foreign county where we have plenty of time to just breathe the fresh air and go on picnics and bicycle through town. Of course, everyone speaks English very well and with charming accents, I am still able to get a cold Coke whenever I want it, and we have satellite TV with any channel or movie we want to watch at night!!
What if I could live in a period other than the present, for 24 hours? For every time I can think of, I keep running into issues with lack of running water and the amount of work required just to put food on the table. I think I have ended up back at the beginning – it would be wonderful to know what it was like to live in the Garden of Eden and walk and talk with God.
What if I could make over three areas of my body? The main thing would be my weight, of course, although if I were just a bit taller, that wouldn’t be an issue (see this post on one of my aunt’s blogs for an explanation). So once that is taken care of, I think I would be pretty happy.
What if I could become an animal for 24 hours?
I would probably want to be a cat because they are self-confident and sure-footed; independent but can seek out companionship when they want it; and their main work involves checking out the different lounging areas in the house to see which one is the best.
What if I could bring someone back to life for 24 hours? I would bring back Jane Austen. First, so she could see how much people love and appreciate her work and how truly timeless her writing is. Also, so we could find out once and for all the whole story about her love life and not getting married–then people could stop writing all those “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” novels speculating on what really happened.
I am not going to tag anyone because it seems like this one has pretty much run its course, but I will be keeping my eye out for a way to get you all back for making me think so hard!

I am sorry, I should have let you know you could do this only if you wanted to. I do love your answers though. I agree with your one wish. I would love to see us stop polluting our bodies and environment and therefore end so much of our physical suffering. I do believe a lot of our ailments have more to do with pollution.
I also liked your Jane Austin comment.:)
Thanks for doing this although I will be more careful in the future to not make us all think so hard.:)
Ha ha ha! Get us back? That’s a funny one. These were great answers. And if you ever find that imaginary foreign land, call me. I’ll go with you and leave the kids at home. But they have to serve Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi too. ;p
Thanks guys! Seriously, it is good for me to think about stuff like this – it all goes along with my trying to escape from the autism vortex that has consumed me for the last three years.
Great thinking! I really liked your answers, especially the travel one, and the link to your aunt’s blog. Yep, I’m guessing I’d only need to be about 6’10″ or so
