in Fun Stuff

A non-blogging friend of mine sent me this round-robin email the other day to answer and pass on to my friends. After going through and answering the questions, I thought it would be a fun holiday post to share with whoever is hanging around the internet this weekend.

Please feel free to play along and post your own answers if you wish. Just let me know in the comments so I can pop over and read them!

Getting To Know Your Friends – Christmas Edition

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Combination. I think gift bags are a cop-out but use them when a package is too awkward to wrap or I am in a hurry.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial and with pre-strung lights!

3. When do you put up the tree? This year it will be the weekend after Thanksgiving; usually we aren’t that organized though.

4. When do you take the tree down? After January 6th – that way it is up through hubby’s birthday on the 5th and Epiphany on the 6th.

5. Do you like eggnog? You mean people really drink that stuff???

6. Favorite gift received as a child? A Green Machine – sort of a recumbent big wheel.

7. Hardest person to buy for? My mom.

8. Easiest person to buy for? My husband.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, but I don’t like the style. I am still looking for one in my price range that I like.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail/email our annual letter to a huge list of family and friends. Also make a few dozen Christmas cards to send.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Anything that was a combo birthday-Christmas gift (just kidding, I can’t think of anything especially bad at the moment).

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? I don’t really remember a Christmas favorite growing up, but we always watched The Sound of Music on Thanksgiving night at my grandma’s house, and I loved that. We just watched Elf last weekend and I think it is a lot of fun.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Usually after somebody says they have just finished their shopping and I realize I need to get started.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Umm, no?

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Mexican Wedding Cookies (although mine never turn out as good as my mom’s always did).

16. Lights on the tree? Yes, multi-colored with different patterns

17. Favorite Christmas song? I like so many; this is a hard one. One fun album is We Three Kings by The Roches, especially their New Jersey rendition of Winter Wonderland.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Used to travel every year but since two years ago, we get to be home on Christmas morning.

19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? I would like to think so, but probably not!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? The pressure to get everything done in time.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color?
We have tons of Hallmark ornaments with a lot of pop culture ones that are fun, but I especially like the ones we have gotten each year for our son.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?
I like the traditional turkey with mashed potatoes and stuffing.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? A new couch!

26. Who is most likely to respond to this?
Whoever is looking for something fun and easy to blog about. :)
